Perrol’s Story

My name is Perrol Varudim (Varudim from Klayethavarudim - my father’s Elven sub-race) and I am a Half-Elf Bard. I grew up in Cyradon with my human mother.

BACKGROUND/HISTORY
Father was an Elven Bard that in his wanderings met and had a brief affair with my mother.  By the time she knew she was pregnant with me, my Father was long gone.  I showed early talents for music and story telling which was encouraged by my mother.  She was not bitter about raising me alone and spoke well of my father.  She was happy to see me following his craft. I visited my father in the summer in my early to mid teens and improved my craft with him.  The special talents I learned from Father made my teacher/master jealous.  Things went from bad to worse and he now tries to embarrass me or show me up at every opportunity.

I make my living by singing, playing the lute, telling the standard stories, and most importantly, spreading the news.  I go out of my way to find out what is happening in town and in foreign lands. To this end I have cultivated contacts at many levels; in the underworld, with inn-keepers and at court among others, but I have no real “pull” with any of them.  I have an arrangement where I share information with them and they share what they know with me.

I am curious about everything and it sometimes gets me in some difficult situations. In these cases I talk my way out if I can, otherwise I fight or flee. I have served in the guards and have decent fighting skills, with the rapier as my weapon of choice. I also have a gift, the ability to protect myself from harm by using an invisible shield.

I do love to talk and will gladly pass along information to whoever asks, but I know how to keep a secret when it really matters.

I follow the goddess Ardilune, goddess of Bards.  Also, Lantiphone, goddess crafts and singing.

PERSONALITY/MOTIVATION
I have an insatiable and sometimes uncontrollable curiosity about everything. I am especially curious about other lands and cultures and to learn the latest news.

POWERS/TACTICS
I am a melee fighter but not a brick. I wear very light or no armor but make up for it because my power is a personal shield spell which will give me good armor ratings. With that I will rely on being very dexterous to keep myself from being hit much. I imagine that I will have to be very careful in melee not to let my power go down.
