(We travel back in time when we went back to the room). We go back to the room and Glaive is on her bed with the back to the wall; not looking very good. Perrol asks Glaive what is wrong and she says the man she was with knows things about Ulronai that he shouldn’t. They talk through this and she is visibly upset that he knows these things that someone that isn’t an Ulronai should know. He said he knew her father and had taught her father. This seems very strange since the man looks only to be about 25 years old. He seems to know everything about the Ulronai magic and ways. He tested her, fought her, and he offered to teach Glaive things that he should not know!!!!! Perrol says that someone outside of the Ulronai knowing the martial arts is unbelievable and knowing the magic, which is an abonimation, is even more unbelievable.

We catch Glaive up on the situation with the possible fake magistrate. We decide to got check if the real magistrate office is in tact and maybe this is a “temporary” office. Kross notices that someone is shadowing us so he points it out to Ghoral. Ghoral “hides” and is able to surpise the guy. We learn that he was paid 5 cp by some guys from the “fake” magistrates office to tell them if we go to the real magistrates office. We decide to tie him up and give him 5 cp so that he can’t go back early.

We go to the “fake” magistrates office. We have Glaive and Kross go on top of an adjacent building to look at both guys by the loading dock. They both notice that one is actively looking and one guys is lounging but both have weapons. They tell us about this. Kross goes back on top of the building to use bow. Glaive and Ghoral go to ally side and Perrol and I go to street side. Kross, Glaive, and Perrol make their concealment rolls. The one closest to Glaive seems to peer towards the ally way. Kross does a twin shot and hits both dockworkers in the arms, 7 and 6 damage, respectively. Glaive does a “Move By” and on first dockworker she hits in the vitals for 4 body and 16 stun and on second dockworker she hits in the head for 8 body and he drops. Perrol hits the other guy in the eye with a throwing dagger for 12 body and he drops. Ghoral notices a shadow through the window that’s moving around. We prop the bodies up to make them look like they are resting. We listen to the door and I hear on voice talking real low and it seems like he’s talking to at least two other people he is talking to. Kross peers in to window (makes concealment roll) and sees four bored guys. One guy comes towards door and starts to open and attempts to shut as soon as he sees us, but Ghoral shoulders through the door and sends him sprawling to the ground. Glaive enters and attacks the person on the ground and hits his achilles tendon for 7 body and he starts screaming. Perrol attacks guy nearest wall by street and hits in the thigh for 5 body and 10 stun. I run in and get next to end guy but unable to hit. Ghoral comes next to me and hits one guy for 12 body and he goes down, he misses second guy. The guy that he misses hits Ghoral in the hand for 1 body and no stun. One guy yells “we are under attack”. Glaive attacks guy on ground but misses. We hear other guys screaming in other room. Perrol hits his guys for 4 body. I hit end guy for 8 body and he goes down (but still alive). Ghoral attacks guy by Perrol and does 12 body and he goes down. Glaive attacks guy on floor and hits in chest for 11 body. Perrol slits throat of guy on floor that I had hit. I open sliding door and three guys are on the other side. One yells over his shoulder, “Get your asses in here”. Ghoral goes through door and does 13 body on one and he guy dies. Ghoral takes second attack against other guy and does 10 body, guy dies. Note Ghoral is a killing machine tonight!!! He also says “Stay where you are at, you don’t want to come in here.” The third guy freezes. One guard from out front opens door and other guard comes in. Glaive moves in to the room near the stairs. She sees one person at the top of the stairs and the boots of two others. She yells to warn us and she moves up stairs to attack first and she hits him in the chest for 2 body. Sidebar, Perrol and Glaive notice the guy that froze looks like he was probably the leader, he’s dressed a little better. Perrol tells us to try and capture the leader. Perrol moves up the ladder in the warehouse to secon floor. I enter and perform presense attack on leader but fail and I also fail at disarm. Ghoral attack other guard that comes in and beheads him. Ghoral yells at the boss again to drop his weapon and he does. The person at top of stairs attacks Glaive but misses; second guy attacks too but misses. Third guy opens door upstairs to balcony and pauses when he sees Perrol. Glaive tries presence attack on person in front of her but it doesn’t work, so she attacks and hits in the vitals for 6 body. Perrol runs towards guy peering through door. The leader looks at me and says I surrender myself to your care. I tell the leader to get on his knees and cover the leader. Ghoral goes up stairs behind Glaive. The leader goes to knees and I tell him to tell his guys to surrender. The leaders does and the guys comply. We start searching the rooms and notice the guys across the street are gone.

Perrol uses magesight and notices there is a small pin (small, clear gem on a gold pin) on the leaders clothing that is glowing; the gem is glow. Perrol asks him about the pin and we learn that the people that hired him gave it to him. Never met the people that hired him. Capture was preferred for all of us. Specifically told not to kill Perrol and specifically to try and kill the dwarf. Uniforms came with money from person that hired them. The person that hired them was going to contact him when it was done. We ask how much they were paid and he says 30 gp, in a whisper. We search bodies and find 5 sp on each, so total of 13×5=65 sp and the leader has 2 gp. There are 2 short swords (worth 16 sp) and 11 longswords (10 new and 1 used worth 24 sp). We take the new ones.

It’s the next morning. I’m discussing with Perrol about my desire to learn about ressurection. He informs me that it has happened in the past, usually by High Priest. I go to Skyfather’s temple and give me directions to the temple for Hospin (God of healing, healers, mercy, kindness, and succor) to research resurrection. Kross goes to mage school to study undead.  Glaive and Ghoral go to the market. Perrol goes to market a little later. When gets there notices Glaive talking to a man, unassuming, with staff and earthy tones. The man is also carrying a sword and stiletto. His armor is soft hide. He see Ghoral too and notices a  dwarf bumps in to Ghoral and says “Hey cousin!”. Ghoral says lets have a drink. Perrol asks Glaive if she wants to come but she waves them off. As soon as the Dwarf learns that Perrol knows Western Ghoralzad, he switches to Eastern Ghoralzad.  Perrol understands this too. Perrol can perceives that the Dwarf is trying to send Ghoral a signal that he wants to talk to him secretly, but Ghoral doesn’t seem to notice.

Ghoral, Perrol, and the dwarf go to an Inn and start drinking. Perrol understands some of what they are talking about and hears Ghoral say something about killing all the orcs. Ghoral and Perrol fill the dwarf in on the undead.

When I arrive at the temple of Hospin, I meet a priest and I discuss resurrection with and let him know I’m interested in learning more. It looks like he was initially going to blow me off but he seems to have recognize my name and then he notices my Skyfather pendant on my chest. He says he will take me to high level priestess (bishop), Rachel, who may be able to help. I learn his name is Kaleb as we walk back. He takes to another section of the temple where there are many sick. I see a grandmotherly woman with glowing hands that seems to be healing an emaciated woman who has a large growth on her side. I notice the growth shrinking and some color returning to the lady while some color goes out of the Rachel.  After a couple minutes the growth is gone and her hands stop glowing. Kaleb asks me to stand on the other side of Rachel in case she gets overwhelmed. She catches herself on the table, she looks wiped and sweating. Kaleb will introduce me and she says we can retire to her office. We go back to the office with an accolyte following too. She tells the accolyte some tea would be good and he runs off and gets it. After he brings it back she tells him he has an hour of free time. I give her my speil on name, where I’m from and  my desire to learn about resurrection. I give her the story of my brother who went in to the Iron Tower and has not returned. She says she can help me down this path but it is a long road with few people learning and most don’t until they are at least older than her. She tells me I may have to change my alliance. I ask what this means and she says I may have to leave my order to achieve this goal. I let her know that this is something I might be willing to consider to learn this skill. Rachel tells Kaleb that I need a book and he goes to get it. He returns with a small, leather book with some spells for healing and theory among other things. They give guidance on how to use the book, seems very similiar to book I got as an initiate for the Azure Order. She apologizes and says she must rest. I give a gp to help with the temple and then follow Kaleb out. I head back to Inn.

We all meet up, except Glaive, at the Inn around lunch time, so we sit down to eat. Half way through our lunch, a man comes in and talks to the bartender and then comes to our table. He is wearing the city colors, kind of like a page. He says greetings and he says he has been asked to see if we would meet with the magistrate at 2 pm to speak with him about the events as we say them last night. We all agree to go, but we get in full gear. Perrol asks the bartender if they would come in to speak on our behalf but they are coming at 3. She says that’s unusual because they usually only ask you to go to the magistrate after a murder. I notice as the guy is leaving that his pant cuff is of a different material that doesn’t look like material of someone in an official capacity, very dirty. We smell something fishy and ask the bartender if the directions the messenger gave us are correct and she says no. She says no, that is more of a transient area. We ask her if there is someone that can look at this place for us, in advance, to scope out this place and she directs to an area like the “Home Depot” hangout. We go and Perrol makes a streetwise roll that seems to find a decent looking guy that can do this for us. He says for 1 sp and 5 cp(Perrol will pay), four people can do walk bys and get more information. We ask to see the other three. He pulls out one guy and then he gets to younger kids, ~16, that appear to be sons. We say to look for number of exits, type of roof, adjacent buildings, look in window (if possible without drawing notice), people hanging outside. They say a ball will help; I give them 1 cp to buy one and one of the kids run off to get it. We tell them to meet back in 20 - 30 min. We go back to the Inn to “armor up” and then we meet back to wait for them. Kross waits off to the side just in case they come back with unsavories.

When they get back, they say the building is a two-story on a corner with a flatish roof. There is a close building on the north side, wide alley on the east side and streets on south and east sides. Building on north side is pitched roof that goes from 1.5 to 1 story. The men argue about the windows about how many there are; appear to be 5 on first floor and 7 on second floor; kids got them to agree. There is a front door, what looks like a door on the north side, and big door on back (like a loading dock). One kid saw “at least” three men in a room playing a card game. There are two people outside the front door that are dressed like city guards. In a house on the east side of the street, they notice two guys inside looking out. There are two guys by the loading dock doors that look like laborers.

Side note, we keep our gold/silver with the innkeeper, except I will carry around 4 gp.

After coming back from the Skyfather’s temple, Perrol determine that someone has been in our room. Glaive notices a scuffing by Perrol’s stuff. We search but no one notices anything taken or anything out of place. We go down to eat and Perrol plays music and sings.  About 20 minutes in, the coin that is being thrown at Perrol because he is playing so good flashes and explodes. Perrol takes 17 body damage. The flash reminds Kross of lightning we saw in Wickshine. Ghoral and I go to do paramedics on Perrol, I make by two. I also make an Arcane and Occult Lore by 8. Side note, I’m awarded a “bump” on my Arcane and Occult Lore, so now I’m at 12-. Looks like it was centered from the loot, strings are gone. I can tell this is something that is magical that was placed on the loot. I’ve heard of people having strokes and things like that if they are not healed quickly. Kross recognizes that a group of “robes”, a.k.a mages, seem to be casting spells and scanning the audience. I heal Perrol for 7 body and Kross uses a healing potion to heal for 3 more body. Perrol is only one really hurt, people in first row were only blinded. We take Perrol up to his room. Glaive, Kross, and Ghoral go to ask the “robes”, there are three, what they may have found. They did not detect anything that was related to spell casting after the flash. They investigate the lute and see that it was an electrical spell combined with some type of timing spell. Would require at least a journeyman 30 minutes and a mage/instructor 5 minutes or less.

We set watches for the night. The next morning, we go down to breakfast, but Kross stays with Perrol. Perrol wakes up very sore but doesn’t notice anything in particular being wrong with himself other than his smell, sound and eyesight seem a little off. Kross tells Perrol what happened. During the day, Kross goes to do research on undead at mage academy, I go to temple, and we don’t do much during the day. Evening comes and we go to dinner, including Perrol as he’s now able to get out of bed. The inn is full. Perrol notices four people that are not together that are keeping a track of each other. Perrol notices pp A is pick pocketing a person and pp B is cutting a purse. We notice pp C is by the door with a club and pp D has a concealed stiletto.

Ghoral and Perrol go to the door to take pp C, Glaive goes to pp B, Kross goes to pp D, and I go to pp A. People notice people Perrol getting up and pp A uses the opportunity to pick another pocket; pp B does nothing. Perrol uses presence attack and awes pp C. I draw my dagger on perp A and tell him to “halt”. Kross uses vital strike and stuns pp D. Glaive uses disabling strike on the leg of pp B and misses. pp A runs but runs in to someone and is stopped; pp B runs and makes it to the kitchen. Glaive and I yell stop for pp B. Ghoral moves to grab pp B. Glaive attacks pp A using disable and does 4 killing damage. Kross tries vital strike and misses. I grab pp A successfully. pp A stops and says I give. pp B tries to escape from Ghoral but is unsuccessfully. Ghoral bear hugs pp B and drags him back towards main room. Glaive grabs pp D; pp D successfully escapes and breaks for the front door. Kross throws punch at pp D does 18 stun damage and 6 body and he crumples to the ground. At this point, fighting stops. We return purses to people that were robbed and we have someone get town guards. pp D talks his way out of it by saying he didn’t have anything to do with pp A or pp B; pp C is not so lucky. We get free drinks from people we saved their purses. Innkeeper gives us three nights of free lodging.

We go back to the room. I heal Perrol back to full strength and he notices that Glaive’s pack is “glowing”. Perrol activates his armor and goes through Glaive’s pack and determines the glow is coming from the silver mirror that we got in Wickshine from the Necromancer. We go to bed with no interruptions

Next morning we go to breakfast. As we are eating a robe (post-graduate/professor) and a priest of the Skyfather temple walk in. They join us for breakfast and make small talk while we eat. After we are done eating, the mage tells us they think they have deciphered the writing on the stone and Sigel writing. They think it says the follow:
Lyca d’Rn’grn-krol n’frok,
(The wicked shrine in ruins,)
Ovrin d’ather-shlam,
(A shelter for the road-weary.)
Krachen ix esteny.
(A storm sets the course.)
Lyc’vothan-krol hoeth athen.
(A faithful heart points the way.)
O’skaldy, o’mogrn
(Over fire, beyond the smoke,)
Atreck covern athen.
(The enemy finds the path.)

The god was an evil god that we’re not sure where it came from. They tell us the coins and urn have been destroyed. They thought this religion had been dead for tens of thousands of years. They are searching the church and mage archives to determine more about this evil religion. There were stories of humanoids attacking villages (dwarves/elves), even possibly before man came to this continent. I ask if there is a way we can help. They say they may want us to look for other sects of the religion. Both thank us for bringing this to their attention. As far as they know, this god is not on this plane, but if there were enough followers, the god may be allowed to enter our plane. We ask the mage to look at the mirror. He determines that it’s a mirror of obfuscation (-6 to perception rolls) which hides a magical area or act from magic detection. Perrol also notices that the mage has something glowing on his chest and the priest has a holy symbol that is glowing. We determine that Perrol has acquired Magesight now!

We each earn one experience point.

We take about 5 days to get to Tietha. We got stopped at the gate. We showed our orders and we were waived through. Go to Boarshead Inn; cost is 2 sp night for single room and 4 sp night for 4 bed room. We pick 4 bed room so 8 cp each, 2 sp with meals.

Marten takes a rubbing of the stones and symbols to take to the Magus. We will go look for the SpyMaster (Lord Marshall Daniel) at the castle while Marten goes through the bureaucracy of getting the Magus interested. There is a line in to the castle at the gates, but moving fairly quickly. Within 10 minutes we are at the front of the line. We learn the spymaster is not back until late afternoon, early evening. We make an appointment for ~1 hour before dinner.

We go to market and buy 12 healing potions at 6.5 sp/each. We ask about dwarven/elven/troll weapons and armor and are directed to a different vendor. We also get directions to another vendor who buys/sells fine wines/brandies. We go to vendor that sells brandies and we sell the brandy for 120 gp, so 24 gp/each.  Ghoral notices that the vendors are very similar like they are a family that sells different items. Go to weapon vendor and find he has trollsmith weapons and fine quality weapons. Perrol buys an fine elven rapier for 50 sp (1d6+1). I find a kid’s troll forged mace +1 OCV, finely weighted for 60 sp or a two-handed elven great mace, strength min of 10 (2d6+1) for 90 sp. I by the elven great mace.

Unfortunately I keep getting interrupted by work so missing a lot of the action. Sigh.

We go to temple find out coins if accepted, sell your soul. They destroy the coins and urn. One recognizes the symbols as what is thought of as a long dead religion.  They give each of us a Skyfather pendant (can use as a favor).
