We are still in the tavern of the inn. Kross tells us of the mercenary and the bereaved father. Once their business together is finished, Eadon the mercenary comes over and asks to join us. He tells that he is from Teitha as well as returning there now that his contract with Ille is up. Jarlyn asks what is up in that area of the world. He says that the Froggies in the southeast of Tietha have been coming out of the marshes and attacking people. He asks what we are doing. We state that we are going to check the status of the Regent mother and the Heir Apparent. He looks slightly uneasy to my eyes when Jarlyn says this but seems a bit more at ease when we mention that we are not on official guard business but are currently independent contractors. He tells us that he is often between Tietha and Syradon with some movement to Osmark. He asks if we will have an opening in three weeks or so, but we prevaricate. At some point the stable boy reentered the room and the waitresses (all in the 9-11 year old range) perk up. Jarlyn asks Eadon about marks he saw on the left shoulders of the youths; he hasn’t even noticed it (segue into a monologue about his accomplishments). Perrol knows he’s seen the mark before and cannot remember where from but knows that it is not a good association. Martin the Bird Man gets up and walks his way up the stairs. The bar matron comes over and talks to us and says that everyone is prepping for sleep. We also decide to go to bed.

During the night, we each take a 1.5 hour watch. During my watch, 4th watch (4:30am), I notice a spicy flowery smell. It also wakes up Perrol who has no clue what it is. I look in the hall, see nothing unusual, and decide to continue my watch. It gets stronger for 10 minutes but then is just there. About half an hour later I hear movement from upstairs and then someone descending the ladder which I assume to be the youths upstairs. About 5 minutes after the movement I hear a continual, female, hysterical scream.

Segment 12
zero phase=fast draw weapons
full phase=shake Jarlyn who is the only one to not wake.
Action begins
Banging in hallway. “Ille are you alright?”
Segment 3
full phase=walk out of room and down to common room
I see bar marton screaming and brandishing stick with 3 humanoids (backs to me but can assume are children/youths) reaching for her with the husband/father wielding a club.
Segment 4
Perrol joins me. He shouts out, “Beware they have claws.”
One of the kids slashes the mother’s chest, another one her right leg, and the third disembowels her.
We hear from Ghoral that there are walking skeletons outside.
Perrol behind me says he sees Ghoral outside.
Segment 6
Half phase=walk to rightmost of youths
Attack=Orushidaila for DCV 7, hit arm, 3 damage
Segment 8
Perrol moves next to me and hits the center youth. He dazed his target by doing more stun than con.
Kross attempts to fire blunt arrows through us to hit one of the youths. It just flies past my head.
Jarlyn joins us and mumbles something.
I get hit (DCV 11) in the vitals for 3 stun.
Segment 9
Attack=Orushidaila for DCV 8, no damage
Segment 12
Attack=Orunatiya for DCV 10, hit legs, no damage
Perrol hits the center dazed, possessed youth and knocks him out.
Kross moves forward and hits the leftmost youth.
Jarlyn uses a spell and knocks all youths unconscious and their features return to normal.
Segment 3
Walk to the door and debar it so that Ghoral can get inside.
Segment 4
Jarlyn opens the door do let Ghoral in.
Ghoral runs in and shuts the door behind him.
Segment 6
Skeletons were scratching and break through the door.
I hold my phase.
Segment 8
Perrol runs up the stairs and yells that he hears summoning-type chanting from behind Ille’s door and asks for help.
Kross comes out and joins him. So does Jarlyn.
I use my held move to get up and be with Jarlyn at one hex from the door.
Segment 9
Half move into room.
See Eadon guarding Ille who is chanting with incense. I attempt to get Eadon to let me by but he is unreasonable and throws my being Ulronai as a reason not to listen to me. He even accuses me of summoning what has been summoned. Perrol stands up for me and even tries a presence attack. Eadon appears to start to listen to us, but then Ille looks directly at him and he changes into a black creature that oozes fear.
Attack=Orunatiya for DCV 7, hits feet for 4 damage
Segment 10
Enveloped in darkness.
I get hit for 6 Body, 22 Stun, and am dazed.

After being let go from the Guards for political reasons, we were allowed to keep our armament and were given one last mission of which to take care.  We are leaving Cyradon and heading for Teitha.  We are to make sure that the regent and her son/underage ruler are all still with everything.

We are out and about on our mission.  Rain and clouds are moving in and we are not yet encamped. Those with survival tell me that they have never seen clouds this dark and gray before and Jarlyn says that this does not appear to be magical. I hear village sounds on the wind and can pinpoint the location. Since the the winds are picking up, we decide to follow me toward the sounds even when it means that we leave the main path and follow a game trail. We enter a clearing on the edge of a small, run-down little village that includes several abandoned houses. A youth coming out of what I suppose are the inn stables notices our presence. We take our horses into the stables where the boy helps all the horses after we take off the saddles/saddlebags except for Jarlyn’s warhorse. In the common room there is a woman behind the bar, two young girls as servers, a table of three men, and two tables of two men. Of the three men, one is talking and the other two are trying to stay awake/interested. The table of two old men yell at us to shut the door. The last table a middle-aged man and a mercenary were talking, appear to come to an agreement and exchange a gold coin to seal the deal. Perrol, Kross, Ghoral, and I each chip in 1 sp for a bunk in a room with four bunks. We will take turns standing watch so we only need the four bunks. Ghoral, Jarlyn, Kross and I sit at a table together in the common room and order food. He asks the tavern girl about the famous Wikshine brandy that he heard about. She says that the trees dried up and the brandy hasn’t been produced for nearly 100 years. The town has been slowly dying ever since that time. Perrol goes from table to table searching for gossip/news. He catches us up on everything he has learned when he joins us at the table: Martin the bird man, the brothers who sell glassware, Josiah the cleric of the traveler’s god, and Kirdy the crotchety old man.
